Tom Clancy 1947-2013

American author Tom Clancy, best known for his military thrillers died on Tuesday in a hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was 66.

A number of his novels that featured CIA analyst Jack Ryan have been made into successful films, starring some of the best known actors of our time.

Chris Pine is set to play the next Jack Ryan in a film directed by Kenneth Branagh for release in the US on Christmas Day. Keira Knightly plays Jack Ryan's wife and Kevin Costner plays his mentor at the CIA.

 

Clancy's 17th novel, Command Authority, is due to be released in December. We take a look back at some of Tom Clancy's best known thrillers.
